Fantasy Battles in the World of Legend

Explore Warhammer: The Old World

This is a dark age.

An age where mighty armies from powerful nations clash to carve out empires on the field of battle. An age where alliances can be fragile, and today’s friends can be tomorrow’s foes. It is an age where the Winds of Magic must be mastered, and where brave soldiers clash against endless hordes of enemies.

And for those who are victorious, it can be an age of glory, no matter how fleeting.

Forces of Fantasy

Kingdom of Bretonnia

Good Logo 1

The Bretonnians are a noble and valiant people who bravely stand firm in the face of the forces of Chaos, and any who would attempt to sully the human realms. Chivalrous knights, exceptional warriors, and guardians of a glorious nation, feared and respected throughout the Old World, march to war in the name of the Lady of the Lake and for the glory of their king, sweeping aside evil on the field of battle.

Dwarfen Mountain Holds

Good Logo 2

Forged in battle and tempered through hardship, the history of the Dwarfs is a tale of constant war and tragedy. Yet, they are not worn down by their hardships, for each trial and tribulation they have faced has served to further steel the resolve of the indomitable Dwarfs. The gleaming ranks of the Karaz Ankor are a formidable sight. They are a race built upon traditions and beliefs, a powerful realm of stubborn and prideful warriors and artisans.

High Elf Realms

Good Logo 3

There are few sights more glorious than an army of High Elves. Serried ranks of pristine soldiers take to the field alongside proud knights, potent mages and ancient creatures of legend. The High Elves are an elite force who, warrior-for-warrior, can outmatch almost any other race in the Old World. They have mastered every fighting style over the long millennia of their existence. Whether you seek phalanxes of spears, unstoppable cavalry, deadly archers, or peerless charioteers, you will find them here.

Wood Elf Realms

Good Logo 4

The inhabitants of Athel Loren are mysterious and secretive beings, rarely seen beyond the borders of their forest homeland and thus little understood by the outside world. In the defence of their woodland realm, the Wood Elves and their allies are deadly and unforgiving. The Asrai often appear capricious and cruel to outsiders – though in truth, each harmful act is performed to preserve their mysterious home and to uphold the natural balance of the wider world. Or so they would claim…

The Empire of Man

Good Logo 5

The Empire is a vast and prosperous, if troubled, land. Since the time of Sigmar, when a hero unified the twelve tribes of Men that dwelt between the Worlds Edge Mountains and the shores of the Sea of Claws, the Empire has stood defiant in the face of the encroaching darkness. Armies of the myriad states that make up the Empire march to war on foot and horseback, as well as with phalanxes of brutal artillery, steam-powered war-machines, and powerful, talisman-wielding mages.

Grand Cathay

Good Logo 6

The vast nation of Grand Cathay is one of the oldest civilisations in the World of Legend, rivalling the great realms of the Elves or Dwarfs in its scope and power. Its armies are made up of experienced and battle-tested warriors who, for centuries, have kept the legions of the Ruinous Powers at bay. Led by noble Shugengan Lords, vast ranks of Jade Warriors and Lancers march to battle alongside towering stone Sentinels, while all-seeing Sky Lanterns survey the battlefield from above.

Tomb Kings of Khemri

Evil Logo 1

The realm of Nehekhara, once known as the Great Land thanks to its long-enduring prosperity, is now the Land of the Dead – an accursed and horrifying realm of cadaverous kings and their dense legions of undead subjects. The unending ranks of the Tomb Kings file grimly to battle – bleached skeletal warriors march in step alongside their mounted comrades upon long-dead steeds, while colossal horrors from the tombs loom large over the battlefield, ready to destroy any that stand in their path.

Warriors of Chaos

Evil Logo 2

From the frozen north march the Warriors of Chaos – merciless killers possessing brute strength and skill in fearsome measure. With them come iron-clad Chaos Knights and mighty Chosen, their baroque armour aflame with the favour of Dark Gods. These indomitable killers march to war alongside great hordes of barbarian marauders drawn from savage tribes. Trolls, Chimerae, and still fouler things are among their ranks, and their masters charge them to lay waste to the Old World.

Beastmen Brayherds

Evil Logo 3

The Beastmen are the true Children of Chaos. Grotesque hybrids of fierce animal and primitive human, these horned and stinking warrior-beasts infest the blighted forests that cover the Old World. Their savage tribes explode from the depths of the haunted woods to wage bitter war against the civilised races, and so profound is the Beastmen’s hatred of order and reason that they seek to drag the world kicking and screaming into a barbaric and primal age.

Orc and Goblin Tribes

Evil Logo 4

Vast tribes of Orcs, Goblins, and Trolls dwell far from the palaces, cities, and castles of the Empire and Bretonnia. They gather in massive numbers before they rush to war in noisy blocks on the battlefield, all clattering shields and rusted metal, their voices raised in a great Waaagh!. When organised into an army, there is little they cannot sweep away through sheer brutality and low cunning – if they can stop fighting themselves for long enough to unite into a cohesive force.
