Who is Warhammer for?

Absolutely not. There are loads of ways to enjoy the Warhammer hobby on your own – reading, collecting, building, and painting. There are even some games you can play on your own. If you prefer to seek out other people to share your experience, head to one the many Warhammer stores located all around the world, and join the online community via our social channels.

Do I have to know someone to take part?

We have plenty of helpful tools on our YouTube channel to help get you started, including guides for building and painting miniatures. Our Warhammer store staff are also an excellent resource for advice and support. It’s easier than you think.

I’ve never built or painted a miniature before. How do I get started?

That depends on the size and complexity of the miniature, and your level of experience. Going slow and steady at first is entirely appropriate, but you’ll soon pick up speed as you get comfortable with the tools. Head to your local Warhammer store, or one of our global events, to try building a Stormcast Eternal or Space Marine miniature for FREE!

How long does it take to build the models?

That also depends on the size of the model, how much detail it has, how long you want to spend on it, and your experience. You choose how you’ll paint them, so you can scale up the details as you learn. Just as with building your first miniature, you can try painting one at your local Warhammer store or official events, free of charge.

How long does it take to paint the miniatures?

No, you don’t, but keep in mind:<ul><li>Painting your miniatures and making them yours is one of the most satisfying and rewarding parts of the Warhammer hobby</li><li>There are few things more impressive and immersive than a fully painted collection</li><li>Most folks find the process of painting to be relaxing once they get the hang of it</li><li>If you wish to eventually enter an official tournament, you’ll need to have a fully painted army</li></ul>

Do I have to paint my miniatures?

No, but you can buy paints in various formats – individual pots as you go, or pre-selected starter sets. Building your selection of paints is very satisfying.

How long does it take to play a game of Warhammer?

Absolutely! Team up with your friends to play doubles matches, or free-for-all multiplayer against. Most of our gomes include official rules for multiplayer action.

Can more than two people play?

Most of our games are against a single opponent, with some exceptions. If you’re after a dedicated co-op board game experience, check out Warhammer Quest: Blackstone Fortress and Warhammer Quest: Cursed City. Both of these games revolve around a team of heroes exploring a dangerous setting, with enemies controlled by pre-determined behaviours.

Can I get a taste of Warhammer for FREE?

That depends on how you like to collect and play with your army – you can paint one model at a time, slowly building it up as you learn all about your chosen faction. Most of our games offer a ‘skirmish-sized’ option, requiring just one or two units, or a small but balanced starting force. Eventually, you can add to your force, but you’re free to take as long as you like, or try out several smaller armies.

How much will it cost to get started?

No. Most Warhammer hobbyists enjoy the experience of building and painting an army to customise it the way they like and increase their sense of ownership. Our miniatures come unassembled, but each kit includes a handy guide to help you build the miniatures. None of our miniatures come painted, however some come cast in coloured plastic to make it easier to start playing right away.

Do the miniatures come built and painted?

Our worlds are simple to explore, but very deep for the avid fan. We offer a variety of products to get you into it. Some are more complex than others, requiring lots of strategic thinking, advanced skills, or a deeper base of knowledge. Others are quite simple, like reading a book, or magazine. Enjoy the ride!
